The Friends of the Art Gallery of Western Australia hold a continual events program throughout the year focused on providing a unique insight into the local art scene. Members are kept up to date with a regular event newsletter and a members magazine.

Monday 21 July ___________________________________________________________________________ Art Gallery of Western Australia Join the Art Gallery’s conservators Maria Kubik, David Graves and Stephanie Baily, as they guide you through the processes that protect and preserve our collections paintings, objects and works on paper. This is an exclusive opportunity, not usually offered to the public, to understand the role of our highly trained conservators in maintaining the collection so that future generations may continue to enjoy the artworks you see in the gallery today. The lecture examines how these elements can be combined with extraordinary effect and to leave people truly inspired... whether in the Sistine Chapel in Rome, on the stage of Opéra Garnier (Paris Opéra) or in unforgettable compositions the likes of "Pictures from an Exhibition - A Remembrance of Viktor Hartmann" for piano by Modest Mussorgsky in 1874. Its great men and women (Shakespeare, Elizabeth I, Wren and Dickens) have shaped the city’s history and are internationally honoured.
