SMOOTH OILS ART WORKSHOP

Hello Art Friends to Smooth oils. In this module we will be exploring pastels in ways you have never perhaps quite used them before.

We will be in working to music and just moving through various ways of using an oil pastel that will give gentle pleasing results. Come and join me for a relaxed and mediative art experience.

Experience 1 Circles This pastel exercise involves a wonderful circular motion as circles are drawn. There is a meditative effect as we draw around and around. The experience combines colour in such a way that when the circles are placed together, the diversity of hues give much contrast to each circle.

Experience 2 Colour Blocking This pastel exercise uses a technique that uses linear and rectangular marks to create a space that is moving on the page. The colours are intense and vibrant as the mind connects with the pastel on the page to complete a vibrant and intense colour experience.

Experience 3 Triangles This pastel exercise looks at the triangles which we will create together and then through a variety of colour blending techniques, we become engrossed in pattern and layering of colours. We are quietly concentrating on just the pastel colouring the paper and creating an image that is quite vibrant.

Experience 4 Leaf This pastel exercise draws on nature and the free-flowing forms of the organic shapes around us outside. We will be colour contouring and blending to create a soothing experience which uses repetition and colour.

Experience 5 Meeting In The Middle This pastel exercise encourages us to reflect on our world from a bird’s eye view. We “walk” the pastel across the page and create patterns developing into a textural and blended experience. The colours are intense and when the cools and the warms meet, the contrast stimulates our mind and even might move us to day dream a little.

Level Definition.

No artistic skill is assumed in all of our lessons. All modules are suitable for clients to work with a facilitator.

1. Basic skills. Some may need direction. Be able to hold a brush or pen. Able to follow simple instructions.

2. Building on Basics. Able to create simple shapes and patterns. Maintain concentration for a longer period.

3. Capable. Follow simple instructions independently.

4.Competant. Independent worker able to try new challenges
